Popular OTC Brand Cortal Unveils New Superheroes

As a continuation to my recent article about Kapitan Cortal, the popular over the counter brand recently unveiled what seems to be an evolution of their antiquated superhero. Instead of one, they've created three heroes perhaps to represent each of the brand's variants, "pain, flu, and Cortalgesic".

Cortal Heroes
Though all we have right now are silhouettes, it's quite evident that the animation they will be using here will be a far cry from the original, "tablet" looking version. I'm as bewildered as many of you in thinking as to how or if the story-line traces its roots back to Kapitan Cortal. It's also within reason to think of a "Captain Planet" type of scenario in which the three could join powers and form a more powerful character or maybe the other way around? How do you think this will play out?

Kapitan Cortal | Legacy of a Pinoy Icon

While doing a bit of research about Pinoy cartoon characters, one unexpected result that came up was a short article about Kapitan Cortal. Captain who again!?

Kapitan Cortal
Apparently there was a comic strip hero back then who was named after Cortal. For those of you who aren't familiar, this is a pain relief medicine more popular these days for ill-advised reasons. But during the 1950's it would seem that it was widely acclaimed for its benefits and was most likely the pain reliever of choice in the country. I mean why else would someone as renowned as Antonio S. Velasquez put his name out there and agree to create a cartoon character for this product if it would jeopardize his reputation? Back then the good "captain" can be grouped in the company of some of the most popular pinoy comic characters such as Dyesebel and Darna but in a bizarre twist of fate Kapitan Cortal along with the product he stood for was lost to obscurity.

These days the brand Cortal can still be found in pharmacies with different variants for flu, fever, and pain. As for the brand's super hero, he has long been out of circulation but his legacy can still be felt given that the product continues to evolve and diversify despite its vague commercial presence. Although Kapitan Cortal's moment may have been fleeting, he was able to make his way into the hearts and minds of many filipinos, helping establish a reputation of trustworthiness that had been passed on from one generation to the next.

No Guarantees for Rush Passport

Went to DFA yesterday and after nearly 3 boring hours of processing they finally wrote down a date at the bottom of the receipt but since there are no labels specifying that it is indeed the "pick-up date" I inquired with the guy at the front desk who confidently confirmed it with a disclaimer saying that I should call first just to make sure that my new passport is ready. After paying extra for rush processing I was about ready to take him to the streets but I decided to "count sheep" instead and walk away opting to reserve all my malice for a more appropriate occasion, just in case they miss out on the due date.

The Vampire Diaries kicks off season 5

Call me what you want but let me say it out load, "I'm a guy who watches The Vampire Diaries"! Just keeping it real ya'll! For some reason many of my guy friends are simply disinterested with anything that involves vampires. Really now!? How could you not be fascinated with these tragic creatures? Or maybe it's precisely the tragic thing that turns em' off? Whatever the case may be, Season 5 has just started and I can't wait to get on my couch and get another doze of Elena Gilbert!
